چکیده

AIM: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of posterior scleral application (a modified technique) an antimetabolite mitomycin C-soaked sponge in trabeculectomy for patients with glaucoma. METHODS: This retrospective study included 101 (115 eyes) glaucoma (aged 12–83y) who underwent using a placement method. A piece 3.5×10 mm2 was placed vertically posteriorly long side perpendicular to limbus. The C concentration exposure time were 0.2–0.5 mg/mL 1–5min, respectively. Intraocular pressure, best-corrected visual acuity, hypotensive medications recorded at baseline final visit. Complications, interventions required, bleb morphology postoperatively. primary outcome safety, including complications morphology; secondary success rate. RESULTS: At follow-up [median 28mo, range 7–67mo interquartile (IQR) 13mo], qualified (cumulative) rate 93.0% complete 60.0%. No bleb-related observed. mean height, extent, vascularity grades 0.6±0.9, 1.1±0.4, 2.4±0.9, All Seidel tests negative. posteriority grade 0.8±0.4. CONCLUSION: Trabeculectomy corneal limbus is safe effective.

Trabeculectomy augmented with mitomycin C application under the scleral flap.

AIM The authors investigated the safety and intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effectiveness of trabeculectomy augmented with mitomycin C application beneath the scleral flap, and assessed the influence of preoperative risk factors on the surgical outcome. METHODS A retrospective study of 72 consecutive high risk eyes undergoing trabeculectomy with adjunctive mitomycin C (0.2 mg/ml) applied ...

Mitomycin-C Application Before versus After Scleral Flap Dissection in Trabeculectomy; a Randomized Clinical Trial

PURPOSE To compare trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C (MMC) application before versus after scleral flap dissection in terms of corneal endothelial cell loss and surgical outcomes. METHODS In this double blind clinical trial, patients were randomized to MMC 0.02% application before (group A) or after (group B) scleral flap dissection. The main outcome measure was corneal endothelial cell density...

Intraoperative Injection vs Sponge-applied Mitomycin C during Trabeculectomy: One-year Study

Aim To determine the safety and efficacy of intraoperative injection of mitomycin C (MMC) against conventional sponge-applied MMC during trabeculectomy. Materials and methods This study was a retrospective, comparative case series. Thirty eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma underwent consecutive trabeculectomies with MMC injection (injection group), and thirty eyes with sponge-applied MMC w...

Reconstruction of delayed scleral flap melting with bovine pericardium after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C

Aim: To present a challenging case of hypotony after trabeculectomy and its treatment. Case description: A 22-year-old woman with juvenile glaucoma underwent a conventional trabeculectomy with mitomycin C on the right eye (OD). In the immediate postoperative period, we observed a hyperfiltration bleb with hypotony refractory to conservative measures leading to hypotony maculopathy. A surgical r...
